With most adult only/hentai games it’s usually in the form of visual novels where you make various choices to achieve the goal of getting laid. There are some games in that genre that kick it up a notch in the form of turn based RPGs where you battle your way through various levels and enemies, form relationships with a variety of characters, and as your progress through the game you can explore said relationships on a more intimate level or be ravaged by the various enemies in a form of either a mini game, a still cut scene, or a decently animated scene. Future Fragments aims to bring you more with incredible game play, great characters, and an amazing story with levels that will constantly keep you engaged. Future Fragments is an adults-only, modern take on the platformer. Mix & match abilities and powers, explore levels that each feature unique mechanics, and discover a branching storyline with over a hundred optional story and sex scenes.

Our story begins with a very Castelvania-esque cut scene in the year 990 AD:
Your king, the strongest sorcerer in the land, has failed to defend against an enemy alliance formed specifically to crush your kingdom. As a last-ditch effort, he opened a portal to the year 3000 AD, where the fragments of a powerful weapon lay dormant. Two magicians: Talia (that’s you!), a 21-year old, serious, “by the book” long-range specialist and Faye, a 22-year old, acerbic, arrogant short-range specialist are tasked with seeking out the Future Fragments. The king’s orders were simple: get the fragments and return home safely. The magician who brings back the most fragments will become the king’s right hand woman, with all the power that brings. Immediately after traveling to the future though, you're faced with "The World Organization for Regulation of the Masses" (WORM), the global power that's outlawed sex to increase productivity.

This is definitely one of the most unique platformers that I have had the most fun playing. The game is slated for release in November 2020 but for those interested a demo is currently available for all to play. The level starts in a factory and from here we learn about the controls, the gameplay mechanics of this particular level, and our main characters: Talia the young magician, scientist/rebellion leader Vie, and our rival/competition Faye.
Talia
Vie

Faye

All this is done through some great voiceovers by talented people: SilkyMilkVoices (Talia & Vie), Mochablob (Faye), ShepJohnson (Seeber). The game can be played with a keyboard or a controller currently with limited capabilities.

CONTROLS (reconfigure by pressing ESC):
  • Left arrow/Right arrow = movement
  • Down arrow = duck & scroll screen downwards
  • Up arrow = access databanks / pick up power-ups / zoom in
  • X = shoot / charge shot / advance text / break out of struggle / restart level after dropping to 0 HP
  • Z = jump
  • C = fire dash, ice shot, or electric jump
  • M = toggle minimap
  • ESC = pause game / equip powerups / alter settings / reconfigure controls / toggle shaders / check megamap
  • H = insta-stun Talia, press it again to drop to 0 HP instantly
  • A/S = switch boss powerups

Once the game starts the first thing you notice is how big the map is in this demo. You really need to keep focus on each and every path you take because you can and will get lost or end up repeating certain parts again by accident. Your main objective to is clear the end of each path to allow Vie to drain the large devices at the end of each path in order to do battle with the boss of that level.

As you make your way through the path you realize that everything is out to get you in one way or the other. Every machine and soldier is definitely trying to stop you from disabling the facility, but you have to be careful not to get stunned or else you could end up in what one might call a pleasurable situation. Not only is everything programmed to kill but they are also programmed for your satisfaction, which is weird since acts like that are deemed unproductive. There are walls that open up and out come hands that get very grabby, jumper bots and security drones that hump, spider bots that can teleport you into their pleasing clutches, and of course grunts that are satisfactory.

So there is a high chance you may spend your time getting caught by the various enemies rather than actually trying to finish the game and trust me when I say no one will blame you. The animations for all the actions are incredible and so well done that it captures your attention both by surprise & for its beauty. It’s all consensual so there are no real shock moments like in a hentai. Even if you get a game over you get a not scene before respawning back to the teleport pad. With over 200 optional cutscenes it all adds up to over 40 possible endings to discover.

Gameplay is your typical run and gun but the game does offer challenges like collecting the fragments located inside each level, random side quest given to by the various grunts and machines which make this game stand out even more and encourages you to explore as much as possible. There is a lot of puzzle solving with every area you enter so the challenge is definitely there for those seeking an action platformer that just happens to be sexy. In certain instances you will be asked to make a choice whether to help someone or find something and depending on your choices it does affect the overall story as well as affect your character’s personality like in Mass Effect.

While there are frustrating moments like trying to jump on a ledge while upside and not ending up stunned or further from your goal, the game itself is just fun to play and that’s just the demo. The graphics are smooth and just look wonderful. The factory level is like most factory level, but you can see the work and detail put into each area. There are images of other levels and enemies posted on the official game page that show what is to be expected once the game actually releases.

The voice acting is incredible and everyone involved does a fantastic job to bring the humor, the sexy, and help push the story forward. The voices really help define every character from Talia to the grunts every voice makes each character as unique as possible; which is a welcomed surprise for most games of this nature. You can feel just how playful and superior Vie is, how much of a strong headed tomboy Talia is, and just how untrustworthy & vindictive Faye is. It’s the kind of work that makes anyone playing this game want to play, learn, and hear more about the story and the characters. The music in the demo and for this game is fantastic and reactive. When your health starts to lower and lower so does the music and it starts to get replaced with the sound of your character’s heart beat until you replenish your health. Which can be somewhat freaky when you trying to speed through a section of the game. They have a soundtrack available for download on their GameJolt page with 14 tracks to listen to while playing this game or any other game.

  • 3 long cutscene-based Hentai animations
  • 5 game over CG scenes, with 2 variations each (first time around and second time around)

  • 30 total cutscenes with over 90 variations of the ways they can play out
  • 30 databanks with over 50 variations in reactions
  • 18 powerups and 3 charge shots, 2 utility abilities

At its current state the game offers a lot of replay ability and exceeds expectations for what’s to come from the full release. They could just as easily release each part of the story in episodes and players would still eat up every release. I feel the game is definitely worth that kind of hype. If you are worried about playing the demo online because of internet speeds during this trying time, you can also download and enjoy it at your own leisure. Plus the game saves your progress each time you return to the teleportation platform either from a path completion or respawning. I give this game 5 out of 5 stars because of its creativity, the obvious hard work that went into just the aspects of the demo, story, characters, and animations.

As another pre-launch bonus, cosplayer Mikomi Hokina has collaborated with Future Fragments to release a free set of digital images, videos, and gifs of her cosplaying as Future Fragments main character Talia.

The entire set is just over 2GB and ranges from badass Talia to sexy Talia which is fits for the character especially when you have played the game. Cosplayer Mikomi Hokina does a great job in bringing Talia to life along with help from her photographer M.H. Photography. Hopefully we will get more collaborations like this as we get closer to the launch date.
