For
those not familiar with Jim Zub and his comic book series SkullKickers here is your introduction: Jim Zub
is a writer based in Toronto, Canada. For over twenty years he’s worked for a
wide array of clients including Marvel/Disney, DC Comics, Capcom, Hasbro, and
Cartoon Network. His comic book series, illustrated by Edwin Huang and Chris Stevens, is about two hard-headed mercenaries who kill monsters and cause havoc
in their search for money, fame and adventure! It was announced in June that
Copernicus Studios Inc will adapt Jim Sub’s comic book series into an animated
action adventure series geared towards adults.
Copernicus Studios is an entertainment content development and production company based in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They produce original, high-quality animated
content for television, feature film, and digital platforms. Founded 2003, Copernicus
is led by four partners who now make up its executive management.
SkullKickers
can be best described as a sarcastic send-up of sword and sorcery stories. The
series was first published by Image Comics in 2010 and built their fan base on
fantasy entertainment.
“Demand for adult animated content is on the rise. Over the past few years we’ve seen the popularity of anime and other content for mature audiences increase in North America. Shows like: Castlevania, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, and Rick & Morty are grabbing attention for a good reason. It’s a great time to make our mark in this space.” – Paul Rigg, President of Copernicus Studios
