The 80s was a great decade to be a kid growing up in terms of cartoons, video games, and toys! It was the decade that gave us Transformers, G.I. Joe, Thundercats, and Ghostbusters. And now in this modern era what's old is new again in terms of reboots in movies. But in comics some things remain classic, depending on who is doing the writing and art work. Spinning out of the mind-blowing reveal that a Transformers-Ghostbusters™ Collaborative figure, the ECTO-1 ECTOTRON, will be available, IDW Publishing proudly announces that the beloved franchises will unite for an offbeat, out-of-this-world adventure in Transformers/Ghostbusters, a comic book miniseries debuting in June.

Written and illustrated by the long-time fan-favorite Ghostbusters creative team of Erik Burnham, Dan Schoening, and Luis Antonio Delgado, Transformers / Ghostbusters will span five fear-fraught issues, with the first issue’s variant covers featuring the artistic talents of Dan Schoening, Paulina Ganucheau, Nick Roche, and Alex Milne.

In the first chapter of the “Ghost of Cybertron” storyline, the Autobots have just escaped from the war that destroyed Cybertron and trace a stray Cybertronian signal to the planet Earth. Investigating this otherworldly source will bring the Robots in Disguise face-to-face with the renowned professionals of paranormal Investigation: Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddmore!

"1984 was a seismic shift for entertainment, the year that launched both Transformers and Ghostbusters. Back then, Little John Barber was right there for Transformers and a little scared of Ghostbusters, but now I’m a bit braver and can’t wait to see the two worlds collide. Seriously, it’s amazing to think that these sets of characters would be more alive and relevant in 2019 than ever before and will be coming together in an unprecedented way right here at IDW!" -John Barber, IDW Editor-in-Chief.

This won't be a transdimensional adventure like the last Ghostbusters crossover event. The Transformers will in fact exist in the same universe as the Ghostbusters, seeing as IDW is now publishing new and future issues of the Transformers franchise. Just in time for the Celebration of both franchises 35th Anniversaries! IDW Publishing proudly announced a brand-new Transformers series for March that will explore the very moment when a glorious, peaceful Cybertron began its downward spiral into chaos.

The team-up that has been three-and-a-half decades in the making and will tie in directly to the announced toy release of the new Transformers character ECTOTRON, as well as yet-to-be-revealed crossover surprises that are sure to cause mass hysteria in both fandoms.

[Speaking about Ectotron]...he is a bit of a nerd. He’s almost as far out there for the Autobots as the Ghostbusters were from other academics here on Earth. He’s kind of uptight, and he’s teased by the other Autobots. But he’ll loosen up by the end of the story. -Erik Burnham

“Ghostbusters has shared a long and successful relationship with IDW Publishing. We’re happy to continue our Ghostbusters comic book adventures alongside Hasbro and their amazing Transformers brand with this one-of-a-kind crossover event celebrating our shared 35-year anniversaries.” -Jamie Stevens, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Consumer Products for Sony Pictures Entertainment
