PAX East: Board Game Booster Box

Pax East 2019 was a great experience. I did not get to walk around much, but from what I was able to see there was without a doubt why it is one of the biggest gaming cons on the East Coast.

Every booth had something new or unique to offer everyone. So you weren't just wandering around bored, you were wandering around looking to get your next fix. Collectibles galore, demos in abundance, and lots of fantastic cosplays. While it was crazy on the weekend with the crowds, It did not feel overcrowded like a NY or San Diego Comic Con. It was still crazy crowded and long ass lines, but not overwhelming.

One of the more interesting booths at Pax East were the folks at Board Game Booster Box. From the photo above you would think they were either selling their own board game or a box of booster packs for various board games. Surprisingly You'd only be half right. Board Game Booster Box is like the Loot Crate of tabletop gaming without the subscription. Each box is priced at $50 a box and comes with board games valued at just about $120.

The Board Game Booster Box™ is a Game-Night-in-a-Box™ containing board and card games from a variety of publishers. Each box contains 4 random games, and everything is playable right out of the box. Board Game Booster Box is also a National Sponsor of Toys For Tots a charity organization that helps get games & toys into the hands of kids who need them.

“I was fortunate enough to receive gifts from Toys For Tots when I was a boy. I’ll never forget what those gifts meant to me. This effort is our way to share the joy of discovering games and help give back to those in need. There’s nothing more rewarding than contributing, knowing that we’re helping share the wonder of board games and helping kids and families in need. Thank you for your support! With every box we distribute at conventions and online, we donate games to kids and families in need through Toys For Tots -Dan Yarrington, Tabletop Tycoon, Creator of the BGBB

We were lucky enough to pick ourselves up a box and it did not disappoint. Scoundrel Society is is the third project from Action Phase Games, designed by Travis R. Chance and Nick Little. It's the first Small Box/Big Fun game from Action Phase Games where players take on the role of a member of The Society, a group of notable con artists & thieves who come together once a year to show off their talents by proving who can steal the most loot from the mark without getting caught.

3) Konja
Konja is a 2-player, press-your-luck, dice and card game, in which you and your opponent assume the role of a shaman wizard, conjuring clouds. The winner is the first wizard to summon a great storm and bring rain to the dry land. The first wizard to summon Clouds totaling at least 21 points, awakens Xango, the ancient God of Storms, and brings rain to the parched land.

Amun-Re Each is a game where players, as pharaoh, build the most pyramids. To accomplish this, he must first acquire a province, where he can trade and farm. With his profits, he can buy new provinces and building stones to erect pyramids. Players must make clever use of their power cards, and always offer appropriate sacrifices to the King of the Gods Amun Re.

The age range for the games can vary from kids to hardcore gamers, so definitely something for everyone. You can pick up a box directly from them when they are at a con or you can order through their website with a shipping cost of only $9. Unfortunately they do not do international orders.
