SHE-RA and The Princesses of Power

As reported in a previous post, She-Ra is making a comeback on Netflix. More details have been released including title, promo poster, and cast reveal. It is set to release sometime this year; no date has been given yet.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is the story of an orphan named Adora (Carrero), who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess She-Ra. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.

As the title says it’s She-Ra with other princesses known as the Princesses of Power much like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; which is great that they will be bringing back familiar characters from the original series. Princesses of Power is cool for the obvious Sailor Moon group of women, plus it allows it to be its own brand rather than falling under Masters of the Universe. No word yet on if He-Man or the Masters will make an appearance. Hopefully the reason behind the Sword of Protection being found on Adora’s planet means that the sorceress will make an appearance and be that He-Man/She-Ra connection.

The art direction for the show is definitely reminiscent of the original DC Superhero Girls show; which should be fine to get that kid audience. I was hoping for the She-Ra from the recent He-Man comic books; a more Xena like character/show than a kids show.

Here is the complete cast list for the show:
