Comic Books by Porn Stars

Porn has always been about fantasy of sex. So when they branched out into XXX-Parodies of famous movies and TV shows, it was no real surprise that how well those features did. Like Rule 34 says on the internet, if it exists there is porn of it. Porn companies have dabbled in the world of comic books as a way to promote their own studios or girls. But to see women in the adult industry who have an actual love for comic books, video games, & anime is just a wonderful thing. Women like Tera Patrick (retired), Ela Darling, Draven Star, Pout Oliver, and Camille Black are just the tip of the iceberg of porn geeks. Three women in particular have taken their comic book love a step further, passed cosplay, and into the shoes of comic book creators. Dillion Harper, Annie Cruz, and Tanya Tate have each created or are creating their own comic book series starring themselves but not as themselves in 2 of the 3 comics featured. Each of these comic books are superhero action/drama oriented comics geared towards comic book fans as opposed to hardcore adult film fans.

Back in 1992 Carnal Comics was an adults-only comic book imprint which had been published by three other companies: Revolutionary Comics, Re-Visionary Press, and Opus Graphics. Carnal Comics' flagship title was: True Stories of Adult Film Stars, which featured autobiographies co-created with porn stars. Other titles included Porn Star Fantasies, Superstars Of Erotica, The Golden Age Of Triple-X (adaptation of vintage adult films), and the psychosexual horror series Nightingale: Mistress Of Dreams and many others. Porn Stars Involved:  JASMINE ST. CLAIR, JENNA JAMESON, JOHN HOLMES-PARIS, JULIA ANN, KYLIE IRELAND, LISA ANN, and MARILYN CHAMBERS to name a few.

While Carnal Comics mainly focused on the X-rated, these ladies have decided jump into the world of mainstream comic books and superheroes.

Lady Titan

Tanya Tate is an English glamour model, writer, international cosplayer, and adult actress. She entered the British adult industry in 2009 and now divides her time between London and Los Angeles. Her stage name is inspired by her interest in comic books and attributed to the manner in which Stan Lee named his characters with the same initial in their first and last name.

In 2013 revealed her plans for San Diego Comic Con 2013 that included the unveiling of her new comic book character, Lady Titan. Created by Tanya, Lady Titan is a planned comic book series that will have its roots based in the tradition of live-action superhero television. Lady Titan is an out of work actress who obtains a costume of a 70’s television superhero that enables her to perform great feats. The book is still in its production stages. No word yet on a release date, but other merch related to the Lady Titan series such as movie posters, T-shirts, and a Lady Titan pop style figure are available to purchase on Tanya Tate’s Storenvy.

Velvet Sinn

Dillion Harper was born and raised in Florida. She was off to college to become dental hygienist, but when the economy hit hard she was forced to look for other revenues of income. She had webcammed a little when she was 19. Eventually she found herself on the set Bang Bros and from there moved to LA to become one of the hottest ladies in porn.

Velvet Sinn follows Dillion Harper, a “pretty little thing,” who is always trying to be a normal, middle-class girl. Harper has constant visions and voices in her head about fighting crime, and uses her powers of beauty to right wrongs. The ten-page, action-oriented comic book is produced by Big Boy Studios Comics & Artist Island Management and made its premiere at Exxxotica Expo in Chicago 2014. To order a copy of issue #1 you can email VelvetSinn@gmail.com for $4.95.

Review:

The comic opens up with Dillion Harper going on stage using her stage name Velvet Sinn. As she dances she feel the power of the crowd cheering her on and it’s intoxicating to her. That is until she starts having violent flashes of a little girl in trouble. This isn’t the first time she’s had flashes like this; Dillion has been trying her best to push past these visions in hopes they would just go away. Her psychic powers are reminiscent of Night Man’s Malicious Telepathy, the ability to sense something evil. As she panics and runs off stage she flashes back to her days of training in the martial arts. Prompting her to decide what she should do about these visions. Does she ignore the visions and the cries of the little girl and go back out there or does she take more drastic measures into her own hand.

The artwork is surprisingly colorful and cartoony like a flash animation, which works well in her dance and action scenes. Story wise it had me wishing for more just to see Velvet in action. You get a brief glimpse of that towards the end of the story. It was definitely a great way to kick things off and gain interest in the story. My one main issue with the comic was the fact that her stage name or stage nickname is also her superhero name as well. Since most street level villains tend to hang out in strip clubs, that would be the funniest thing ever for a bunch of street thugs hanging out at the strip club and all of a sudden hear “Coming to the stage is Velvet Sinn”. So it will be interesting to see how they get around that.

Hard Target B*tch (HTB)

Annie Cruz is an American porn actress, model, dating coach, and web/graphic designer. She can be best described as: Pansexual, huge Batman & Fitness enthusiast, Dating Coach, Cosplayer, Gamer, Horror Fiend, and occasional recreational Gynecologist. She’s appeared in: over 600+ adult movies, the Howard Stern Show, various MTV Showtime Cinemax & HBO shows, WEW Women’s Extreme Wrestling PPV. She currently hosts her own talk radio show on Vivid Radio on SiriusXM 791 and works as Head Female Coach at the Dr. D Lifestyle, a Dating and Lifestyle Design company that helps people become better socially.

In January 2015 she lent her likeness to be used in a graphic novel HTB. HTB, which stands for Hard Target Bitch, is a brand new graphic novel from Taurian Films and Jigsaw Entertainment. It’s the tale of Vanessa Bachman, an assassin for hire whose latest target gets her mixed up with the feds and an underworld organization. Initially planned to simply be a comic book endeavor, BJ Lewis is set to launch HTB as both a graphic novel and a feature length film. While the initial IndieGogo fundraising campaign for the film and graphic weren’t a total success, that still hasn’t stopped BJ Lewis and Annie Cruz from going forward with the project, doing as much filming as they can. They will be launching another fundraising campaign in Jan 2016.
